I. General Policy  

WTBO WKGO Corporation, LLC. has a policy to afford equal employment opportunity in to all qualified individuals without the regard to race, color, religion, national origin or sex, in all personnel actions including recruitment, evaluation, selection, promotion, compensation, training and termination.

To make this policy effective, and to insure conformance with the Rules and Regulations of the Federal Communications Commission, we have adopted an Equal Employment Opportunity Program.

II. Responsibility for Implementation

Richard Cornwell, General Manager will be responsible for implementing WTBO/WKGO Corporations EEO program. It will also be the responsibility of all persons making employment decisions with respect to the recruitment, evaluation, selection, promotion, compensation, training and termination of employees to insure that our policy and program is adhered to and that no person is discriminated against in employment because of race, color, religion, national origin or sex.

III. Policy Dissemination

To ensure that all members of the staff are cognizant of our equal employment opportunity policy and their individual responsibilities in carrying out this policy, the following efforts will be made:

The station’s employment application forms will contain a notice informing prospective employees that discrimination because of race, color, religion, national origin or sex is prohibited and that they may notify the appropriate local, State or, Federal agency if they believe they have been the victims of discrimination.

Appropriate notices will be posted informing applicants and employees that the stations are equal opportunity employers and of their right to notify an appropriate local, State or, Federal agency if they believe they have been the victims of discrimination.

In any advertising for job openings the stations will include a notice informing prospective employees that discrimination because of race, color, religion, national origin or sex is prohibited, and that WTBO/WKGO Corporation, LLC. is an Equal Opportunity Employers.

a.) During this period from June 1, 2012 to June 1, 2013 WTBO-WKGO Corporation

LLC (IE. WTBO, WKGO, WFRB, WFRB-FM) did not have any full time job vacancies to be filled in any job title.  The company did not hire any part time employees. 

 

b.)  Therefore, WTBO-WKGO Corporation did not use any recruitment sources to fill non-existent vacancies.

 

c.) Because of a.) and b.) no recruitment source sought or was entitled to notifications of any vacancy.

 

d.) Because of a.),  b.), and c.) there can be no identification of any recruitment source for any referrals.

 

e.) Because there were not full time vacancies between June 2, 2012 to June 1, 2013

there were therefore no interviewees for any full time positions.

 

f.) For a list and brief description of the required non-vacancy specific recruitment measures selected from the FCC’s menu that were undertaken, please refer to Exhibit 3 Narrative Statement immediately following on the next page.

WTBO-WKGO Corporation LLC does work to Educate & Recruit persons for any and all present and future opportunities for employment according to the EEO guidelines

established by the FCC.  This process continues whether we have any job openings or not at our facilities.

 

WTBO-WKGO Corporation LLC has been working to achieve broad and inclusive outreach during the period prior to filing for license renewal applications for WTBO, WKGO, WFRB, and WFRB- FM.  The period of record prior to application is from

June 1, 2012 to June 1, 2013

During June 2011 WTBO-WKGO Corporation worked with the Allegany County Board of education to set up annual dates for station personnel to visit an individual school classroom to discuss what that person does as part of their career in broadcasting.

Jim Van, our News Director, visited Northeast Elementary School on Thursday, June 9, 2011 from 8:30-11:30am. Jim met with approximately 100 students in 4 class rooms and discussed what it is like to be an announcer and to be a News Director. School Counselor Terri Simpson coordinated this visit.  Students  asked questions and one of our station’s websites was displayed on an overhead projector to demonstrate aspects of the station’s operation.

 

                                                                       

On November 13th and 14th 2012, Tim Martin, Asst G.M., Carson Yoder, Program Director of WFRB FM, and Rhonda Keefer, Music Director WTBO/WKGO participated in a Career Fair for all middle school students in Allegany County, MD. It is called Allegany School’s  7thAnnual Focus on the Future Showcase”     The event was held at the Allegany County Fairgrounds Multi-Purpose Building located just off Rt. 220 South of Cumberland, MD.
